A Perusal of Art

Art is Pretentious

Hey everyone, and welcome to Thoughtpennies! I would also like to wish you all a very Happy Darwin Day!! I can’t think of a better day to beginĀ our webcomic than on the day of a man who championed Science and Reason despite the very strong opposition. Because we here will champion Science Fiction and Absurdity with no danger to our own safety whatsoever. It works, trust me… Now allow me to introduce myself; I am Tirumari. I am also brown, due to me being Indian and all. This is Thoughtpennies; a webcomic that went by several different names in the past and has hopefully reached its final incarnation. I can’t believe that it’s been several years in the making; I remember a time when I didn’t have a goatee and Darren wore really brightly-colored sweatshirts. I feel a slight sense of accomplishment, though truthfully it’s because of Mimi that this site is up and running anyway. Please feel free to explore! The other tabs should be operating within the week, and I’ll see if I can’t post several more strips soon since I have midterms to worry about for the next two weeks, so that will be a quiet studying time for me. Thank you for visiting, and leave some comments!! Because our philosophy here at Thoughtpennies is that “comments are appreciated, almost as much as donuts.”

@#!$ing Deadlines

Deadlines. We’ve all been to (or still are in) the seventh circle of hell known as school/college/university/grad school, so I’m assuming we’re all familiar with the concept. I feel this idea very keenly as the months race toward spring and with them the dreaded season of midterms complete with fifty page dissertations on the mating behaviors of the North American three-toed camel slug, poorly worded multiple choice exams, and group projects with Grumpy, Sleepy, and Dopey. I’m only half-kidding, but it is something that all college students meditate on at four in the morning the day when some 40 or 50 percent of their grade is on the line. And in case you were wondering what was the point of this rant, this is a brief introduction/spoiler to Thoughtpennies: your quintessential guide to college misadventures as seen through the eyes of geeks, namely the awesome (but procrastination prone) Tirumari Jothi and yours truly. Get ready for a treat ladies and gentleman and enjoy the peace and quiet while it lasts, because before you know it midterms will be over and you’ll be crying like a baby. But don’t worry, we’ll have a comic to wipe up the mess afterwards. And if you’re ever wondering who to blame when we don’t update on time *points to the slightly shorter Indian man in the corner with big…shoes* blame him. Now, if you’ll excuse me, *picks up a bullwhip* I have a deadline of my own to enforce.

*yells* TJ!!! WHERE’S THE NEW COMIC!!!!???

Oh yes, my name is Darren, by the way, and I’ll be whipping this comic into shape with my badass writing skills. ^_^

So, what kind of update schedule are we looking at? =p

  4. Darren

See the blog post above. We’re hoping for at twice a week. Emphasis on the hoping.
(Nice to see you by the way Alex!)

  5. Nikki

I see that your fan base is rapidly approaching the double digit mark. Ahem.
Anyways, it’s mossum to see that your comic is finally up and off the ground, so methinks that congrats are in order.

    Congrats, oldies.

  6. Dark Prism

This obviously isn’t a real web comic yet because it doesn’t have a forum. My judgment is passed as [working...].

  7. Charles

I just realized that not being in the same state as you, there is very little I can actually do to you.

  8. cho

Glad to see it get started. Keep them going.

  9. Charles

I’d threaten to eat your face, but that could be misinterpreted and is a bit disgusting either way you take it. And I still can’t do that from here.

  11. Darren

Tirumari!!!! I’m so impressed that this site is up and running. You’re a professional now! Congrats to you and your team!!! I look forward to more comics.

This is rather a late response as I was a bit too lazy to say this… but this webcomic does have a forum if you’ll notice it’s being hosted on natural20s. All it takes is for Mimi to make a subforum for thoughtpennies.

Hey TJ, layout looks cool! Sometimes though, the words on the comics are a *leetle* hard to read… or are my eyes just sucky.

The art’s definitely come a long way though, looks great!
